One of Bristol’s oldest family businesses with an enviable history of great customer service and a strong financial base is now offering an opportunity for a forward thinking, commercially aware and financially astute Chartered or CIMA qualified accountant to join the group as its new Finance Director as it embarks on the next phase of its growth plans. Enhancing their leading independent status of providing cleaning, catering and accommodation supplies spanning five generations serving local and national businesses.

The role is a Board role and as such there are requirements placed upon Company Directors in the legislation contained within the Companies Act 2006. This position reports directly to the Managing Director.

As Finance Director, you will lead their accounts team, developing talent and deliver analysis to advise and direct company strategic decisions. You will have exceptional IT skills to drive integrated business platforms to exceed customer expectation while streamlining business processes.

Major Responsibilities;

- Group cash management ensuring working capital is controlled whilst maximising opportunities
- Direct accurate data collection providing insightful analysis to steer business decisions
- Preparing and advising on monthly and annual accounts consolidating group activity
- Team and individual development of Finance and IT Departments including apprentices
- Strategic lead for all assets including premises, stock and vehicles
- Liaison with external advisors including HMRC and auditors
- Direct the Quality Management and Environmental governance to ensure continuous improvement
- Collaboratively direct the Operations functions ensuring highest level of customer satisfaction are achieved
- Lead HR functions and process, being the final arbitrator in retention and development of staff
- Collaborative approach to developing stock profile and operational cost effectiveness
- Work with all teams providing professional service to branches from Bristol

Required Qualifications or skills;

- ACA, ACCA or CIMA Qualified
- Ability to present complex data simply
- Experience of Distribution preferred
- Adept at database report writing ideally SQL
- Proven experience of process improvement connecting data to business outcomes
- Advance experience of transactional business systems also technical accounting
- Demonstrate leadership of strong controls and evidence where challenges have brought greater insight.
- Commercial acumen
- Experience of overall responsibility

- A self-aware individual who exudes humour, understanding and honesty
