6 Month Fixed Term Contract - Part-Time Evenings & Nights

Location:
Godshill, Isle of Wight

Hours:
3 to 4 night shifts (6.00pm to 8.00am) per week, including weekends, to be agreed in advance with the family and worked flexibly.

Waking Night Carer Role Overview:
This leading Nationwide provider of case management and rehabilitation services requires a *Female Waking Night Carer to support our client, a 6 year old girl who has physical disabilities and cognitive deficits and is reliant on others for all of her care needs. She is doubly incontinent and wears pads at all times.

Our client is a very placid child and thrives on the company of others. She lives with her family in their home and enjoys playing with her family and friends as well as her pet dog.

The Waking Night Carer will be required to monitor and attend to our client as required throughout the night. You will be expected to keep accurate notes of her sleep pattern, including reasons for her waking and actions required resettling her. You will also assist her with all aspects of care and personal hygiene required during the night and early morning; this may include the giving of medication and liquids as well as changing of pads and bed linen.

Waking Night Carer Attributes:

* Female

* Physically Fit, for moving & handling purposes

Experience of working with children/adults with special needs and experience of epilepsy is essential as well as patience and willingness to learn

Experience of working waking nights preferred

Confident about working in a family home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of the client and his family; able to demonstrate the need for confidentiality and privacy and reliable and trustworthy

Being able to be proactive, encouraging, creative and having a good sense of humour are all important

Flexible - to help the general running of the household as and when the need arises

A full driving license (endorsements to be disclosed) and willing to drive the clients adapted vehicle

Non Smoker – this post operates in a non-smoking environment

Remuneration:
£11 per hour Monday – Friday and £12 .00 per hour weekends and Bank Holidays, depending on experience. Ongoing training and support provided. Free DBS check.

This position requires a disclosure request from the DBS.
