LOCATION: Haywards Heath, West Sussex

REMUNERATION: Day Shifts - £13 to £15 ph, Waking Night Shifts - £14 to £16 ph

Looking for Support Workers who can be flexible in the availability of the shifts worked, to get to know and create a good relationship with our client. Whilst this is our preferred candidate, we will not exclude candidates who can only do either Day or Night shifts.

As a general pattern, the shifts available are: -

A) Sun to Thurs - 21:00 to 09:00 / Fri to Sat - 19:30 to 07:30 (Waking Nights)

B) Mon to Fri - 15:30 to 21:00 (19:30 on a Fri) (After School)

C) Weekends & School Holidays – variable shifts depending upon family activities

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Our client is a 12-year-old girl who has complex physical & learning disabilities. She lives with her mother, father & 2 younger siblings. Our client is non-verbal with sensory impairments & complex physical needs so full support is needed to undertake all activities of daily living. She is fed via a gastrostomy & uses a combination of facial expressions. symbols & some eye pointing to communicate and is exploring eye gaze.

She requires a high level of care both during the day & especially at night as our client frequently wakes & has an unpredictable sleep pattern. She uses CPAP to support her respiration at night & needs attention with regards to her gastrostomy/fluid intake.

Our client enjoys the company of happy, lively people with outgoing personalities. She enjoys playing with her siblings, has a fantastic sense of humour & loves joining in activities integral to family life. She enjoys being out in the community so a full clean driving licence is essential.

CARE ROLE
The role is to meet all of our client’s care needs including; ensuring her comfort at all times, medication, blended diet, therapy plans as set out by Therapist team, Speech & Language therapy & personal care.

Support will be within the family home, as part of a large team of support workers to provide care 7 nights per week, after school, at weekends & school holidays.

Her parents like to spend quality one to one time with our client so team members will also be required to support her siblings from time to time.

There will also be a requirement for some support workers to give support to the family whilst away on holidays sometimes abroad.

ESSENTIAL PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

- Female care worker
- Full Clean Driving license.
- The ability to travel abroad for family holidays.
- Fit & well to carry out care & outdoor activities.
- Experience working with children with complex needs.
- Excellent communication, social skills, patience & tolerance.
- Excellent spoken English in order assist with Speech & Language therapy.
- Responsible, trustworthy, organised, excellent timekeeper/planner.
- A good sense of humour.
