This leading Nationwide provider of case management and rehabilitation services is looking, on behalf of their client, for an enthusiastic experienced *Female Support Worker on a fixed term contract to cover for Maternity Leave, for a young adult who has severe learning difficulties with associated behavioural difficulties based in Birchington, Kent. She has limited communication skills and depends on her family and care team to “read” her thoughts and feelings through her gestures. She can respond to simple questions and uses jargonised speech with some recognisable words. She uses Makaton signs and symbols and has a history of epileptic seizures. She is independently mobile and requires supervision and support at all times during the day and night in order to maintain her safety. The main focus of this post is to work with our client to assist and motivate her to participate in vocational and leisure activities both at home & within the local community.

Hours:
An average of 31.5 hours per week to be worked as follows:
Monday 9am to 1pm
Tuesday 8am to 4pm
Thursday 9am to 5pm
Friday 9am to 1pm
One Saturday from 10am through to 4pm on Sunday every four weeks

Remuneration:
£12.00 per hour, Monday- Friday
£14.00 per hour, Weekends & Bank Holidays,
National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage per hour for sleeping hours.
5.6 weeks annual leave, free DBS Check, free ongoing training and support from Case Manager

Support Worker Requirements:
- *Female – personal care required
- Confident about working in client’s own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of the parents.
- Confident in supporting the client in accessing the wider community.
- Happy to learn new things in accordance with the client’s programme.
- Reliable and trustworthy.
- Flexible with your approach to working hours. (able to accommodate the client’s wishes for start and finish times)
- A good communicator, patient and tolerant.
- Excellent at planning and have the ability to ‘risk assess’ activities.
- Excellent at spoken English in order assist with Speech and Language therapy tasks.
- Able to work as part of a team.
- Able to work under own initiative and be creative.
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of confidentiality and privacy.
- Organised and an excellent time keeper.
- A car driver with a full driving license to drive in the UK.
- Experienced of working with adolescents and or adults with learning difficulties including behaviour difficulties. (Desirable)
- Experienced of working with children/adults with epilepsy. (Desirable)
