This company is an award winning UK textile innovator, independently owned, specialising in the design & manufacture of contract upholstery fabrics for commercial interiors and mass passenger transport. The company is based in the UK’s West Yorkshire textile heartland, with additional manufacturing in Lithuania and Nottingham, from where it extends global reach into some 80 countries worldwide via established offices, warehousing and distribution channels in Europe, North America, China and Australia. This company sells over 8 million metres of fabric a year for use in commercial offices, banks, government departments, universities, NHS, cinema, auditoria and transportation applications in buses, coaches, trains and underground.

They now have a great opportunity for a talented, ambitious Fabric Marshaller to join the Weaving department at their Meltham site.

Job Purpose:

To collect fabric off loom and marshal to correct inspection or despatch area.
To inspect all fabrics that are processed over the flat weaving synthetic perch.

Key Tasks and Accountabilities:

- Collecting woven fabrics from looms and marshalling them to either inspection or despatch areas.
- Ensuring woven rolls have the correct identification attached to them at all times.
- Weighing, measuring and documenting fabric removed from looms.
- Documenting fabric movement using the AS400 computer system.
- Inspect all fabric types for defects.
- Identify report, document and tag all fabric defects.
- Check all fabrics on the synthetic perch for correct width and colour.
- Complete inspection paperwork and fault log for every piece inspected.
- Ensure all equipment is stored in the designated areas.
- Maintain departmental Health & Safety standards.
- Ensure working areas are clean, tidy and free from obstructions.
- Any other duties as and when required, give assistance to manufacturing personnel as requested.

Knowledge and aptitudes required:

- Knowledge of flat weaving production.
- Knowledge of flat woven products.
- Knowledge of picker and boom truck operation.
- Good attention to detail.
- Excellent numeric and literacy skills.
- The ability to bend stretch and lift weights up to 25 kgs.
- Flexibility and self-motivated.
- Basic computer skills (AS400 training will be provided).
- The ability to distinguish between similar colours and shades.
- Good hand and eye co-ordination.

Personal Competencies:

The position requires a flexible individual who can work on their own initiative as well as part of a large team. The role will require the individual to communicate effectively with all relative departments, therefore co-operation is essential.

There may be occasional requirements to work overtime or assist in other areas of manufacturing, reasonable notice will be given.
