This well-established building contractor recently re-located to Crawley, are looking for a professional and dedicated estimator/quantity surveyor who wants to work in a flourishing business that prides itself in high quality New Builds and Renovations/Refurbishment. Specialising in schools, Listed Building work and Commercial the company has good reputation for itself with a loyal client base and repeat business which has allowed continued success over its 30 + years of trading. It is now looking to continue its current growth expanding the variety of projects it undertakes.

As well as estimating, the role will involve quantity surveying duties post contract award. Duties include (but not limited to):

- Log tenders onto data base
- Read through and carry out brief risk assessment and report to Directors
- Send out sub contract enquiries
- Send out materials and specialist supplier enquiries
- Carry out take off if required
- Price the works
- Carry out site visit.
- Produce approximate programme
- Produce Logistics
- Assemble information for Tender Submission with risk assessment
- Provide tender analysis and report for Directors adjudication
- Provide Tender Qualification letter
- Submit tender
- Obtain results
- With Contracts Manager, provide support if tender goes live with subcontract buying, material buying etc.
- Carry out post contract duties:
o Site visits where required
o Valuations,
o Sub, contract valuations and payment recommendations
o Cost/Value Variations
o Provide CVR’s
o Cash flow
o Note and provide letters for EoT
o Claims for L&E and/on EoT

The successful candidate needs to have at least 5 years’ considerable and varied experience and ideally in both Refurbishment and New Build, from small works to £2.0+m. You will have a logical mind with a methodical way of thinking and an innovative approach to problem solving. Communication is key, with the ability to relay information in an easy to understand fashion is a must, as is, the need for strong numeracy and financial management skills. You will be a strong negotiator with a keen eye for detail and an in depth knowledge of past and current building construction technology, processes, materials, business and legal matters.

The role requires someone who can work on their own initiative but equally well as part of a team. Due to the size and nature of the business flexibility is essential.

You must have a full UK driving licence to be considered.
