This company is a specialist pressure vessel and process plant equipment manufacturer serving various industries including petrochemical, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, chemicals, nuclear, paper, glass and food industries.

Established in 1964, they have built up an excellent reputation over 50 years as one of the leading pressure vessel and process plant equipment manufacturers in the UK. They have two manufacturing facilities in Heywood, Lancashire where they employ 41 full-time members of staff.

An exciting opportunity for an estimator has arisen within the technical sales team here. The role will predominantly be office based and will involve providing detailed and accurate machining, fabrication & welding cost estimates for submission as formal quotes to client’s.

They are looking for an experienced estimator who can use their experience, technical knowledge and customer focus to provide accurate estimates from bespoke customer specifications and technical drawings. This is a key role in the business to ensure strong customer relationships and continued business growth.

Your role will involve;
- Working with members of the technical sales team and other departments including, engineers, team leaders, managers, and directors to develop the requirements for opportunities/quotes to meet customer specifications.
- Prepare manufacturing cost estimates for incorporation into formal quotations utilising the ERP system (Epicor).
- Managing request for quotes to ensure completeness, accuracy and timeliness of submission.
- Providing technical assistance to develop innovative customer solutions.
In your career to date, you will have gained sound knowledge & experience in;
- Estimating costs for machining, fabrication and welding with a proven track record within a heavy engineering environment.
- Working within an ISO 9001 quality management system.

Key Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of manual machining equipment and processes (Boring, milling, turning, planning, drilling, etc.).
- Knowledge of machined materials (high alloys, stainless steel, titanium, aluminium, etc.).
- Thorough knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and the ability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Competent with up-to-date computer applications including word, excel and CAD.
- Knowledge of fabrication and welding processes would also be beneficial.

Required Qualifications/experience
- Higher National Certificate (HNC) qualified in an engineering discipline
- 5 year’s practical industrial experience (postgraduate scheme or equivalent) in the heavy engineering industry.
- 2 years’ experience estimating for a heavy engineering organisation.
