We are a bioremediation company that produces ecologically friendly bacterial products to treat wastewater and contaminated freshwater ecosystems. We are looking for an Environmental Engineer with strong field experience in the area of water and wastewater including investigation and remediation.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and organised with project management skills and can take a leadership role in our projects. The role will primarily consist of site visits to industrial wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), assessment of contaminated surface water sites, design of field for testing of bacterial products and definition of field experimental protocols.

The main duties of the role will include, but are not limited to:
- Assist clients to troubleshoot problems with industrial WWTPs and other waste processing assets or outlets
- Make frequent visits to client sites across England with overnight stays
- Take field samples from pond/lakes, drainages and WWTPs to the lab and carry out soil & wastewater analytical assays
- Good knowledge of basic portable field equipment calibration, use and appropriate sample collection methods
- Conducting research, mainly by using soil, water biochemistry and microbial analyses assays
- Develop procedures for safe field trips, SOPs & RA for field work, sample management and collection/disposal tracking
- Liaise with third-party labs for field sample analysis quotes, sample collection and following up on results
- Preparing and analysing datasets that arise from fieldwork & laboratory experiments e.g. database organisation, cleaning, preparation of data and providing statistical analyses
- Plan and manage own activities and priorities to meet targets
- Contribute to our environmental management system and contribute to the improvement of ISO14001 targets
- Offer support on new projects, liaise with sales team for technical site support

We're looking for a professional, dynamic and motivated individual with the ability to work alone and as part of a team, and also:
- A master’s degree in environmental engineering/science/wastewater engineering/aquatic microbiology or similar
- 5 years of experience
- Extensive knowledge of water and wastewater management with experience of environmental monitoring and microbiological sampling/testing
- Experience in treat-ability testing design
- Ability to troubleshoot complex problems
- Experience in field-based bioremediation
- Full drivers license

Desirable:
- Working towards chartered chemist status
- Member of Royal Chemistry Society/Royal Microbiology Society (or equivalent)
- Good skills in database management
- Good statistical knowledge
- Passion for innovation and problem solving
