A well-established, full-service law firm with an excellent reputation is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Employment Law Solicitor to join the expanding department. The firm has offices throughout Teesside, County Durham and North Yorkshire. The business employs around 70 fee earners and around 160 people in total based across 9 offices.

This is an opportunity to work in a progressive practice, amongst some of the region's leading lawyers. You will be responsible for growth and development of the department.

Degree level qualification or equivalent, with strong verbal and numerical reasoning skills.

Professional qualification as a Solicitor (or equivalent). Track record of expertise in Employment Law. PQE 3 years + (or equivalent) as a minimum.

Experience at an established law firm or a large in-house legal team preferable. The ability to deal with a demanding case-load and conceive, develop and manage a practice area with self-motivation showing, commercial awareness and a marketing strategy. Where possible a following of clients with whom you have developed a strong professional relationship

This is a Senior Caseworker role which requires detailed knowledge of all areas of Employment Law concerning both Applicants and Respondents across the full spectrum of contentious and non-contention matters, including, but not limited to: Unfair Dismissal; Equality Act / Discrimination; TUPE; Redundancy; Restrictive Covenants; Settlement Agreement; Contract Negotiations and Salary - Equal Pay rights.

Practical experience in the Employment Tribunal, including preparation and advocacy skills. Demonstrable commercial and pragmatic approach to employment law issues.High level influencing and communication skills (both written and verbal)

Advocacy at interim and final hearings is desirable. Ability to multi-task, work well under pressure and use own initiative. Good presentation and negotiating skills. Excellent organisation skills.

The role commands a competitive salary, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and a first class working environment. It is anticipated that this will be a full time permanent position based at the firm’s Darlington or Middlesbrough office (although location at other branch offices will be considered). There is car parking on site at the Darlington office and nearby parking at the Middlesbrough office.

Both the Darlington and Middlesbrough offices are just a ten minute walk from the nearest train station.
