One of the leading Train Engineering Businesses in the UK is looking for highly experienced Electricians / Test Technicians to support the new contracts they are undertaking.

As a business they pride themselves on the quality of their work. They offer a comprehensive range of refurbishment, maintenance, overhaul and repair services to the UK rail sector, providing services on passenger trains and specialist infrastructure vehicles.

Based in Kilmarnock, they employ over 70 people in their 4 road, 14 vehicle capacity depot and much of the work they do involves extensive safety critical activity where ensuring compliance with rail industry standards is essential, requiring the implementation and maintenance of all necessary processes and competencies.

They are now looking to strengthen the electrical team with experienced Electricians and Test Technicians to enable the repair and fault finding on rolling-stock to ensure that we provide our customers with a reliable, safe and defect free train.

About the role…..
This is a key role and in return for a very competitive salary they are looking for people who have the following experience

- Electrical testing, fault-finding and diagnosis of rail vehicles and rolling stock
- Interpretation of electrical schematics and engineering drawings / specifications and understanding the work instructions arising.
- The ability to examine, test and repair wiring looms and cables
- Responsible for the on-going job integrity and fault rectification arising from vehicle tests.
- Maintenance of test logs and customer documentation and writing electrical test reports

About you………
- A minimum of S/NVQ /C&G Level 3 with associated recognised apprenticeship papers available.
- Come from a certified electrical testing background, preferably gained in the rail industry, or alternatively experience in heavy engineering, automotive or aerospace industries.
- Familiarity with TPWS, AWS and TCA would be an advantage
- A self starter – able to work on own initiative
- A keen attention to detail with good problem solving skills
- Able to work in a fast paced, busy environment with multiple projects
- Good communication skills – able to discuss testing outcomes with both customers and workshop teams
