Having published magazines and media for over 35 years, this company is firmly established as the world’s leading publisher of transport and specialist leisure titles. They have an extensive portfolio of consumer and business-to-business print and digital magazines.

They are looking for a Digital Publisher to take responsibility for product creation, content acquisition and development for new digital products in the fields of aviation, military history and transport. Working closely with in-house and external content providers, this role will deliver product to targets to achieve their ambitious goals.

As this area develops, the Digital Publisher will build a list of digital products ensuring that they address end user and market needs before launch. This is a new role reporting to the Managing Director.

The Role

- Contracting/developing products to a pre-agreed revenue target per annum to ensure delivery of the plan
- Working with editors to brainstorm ideas for products within their subject areas
- Research and strategically target third party content providers for licensing opportunities
- Contract negotiation and relationship building with external partners
- Managing market research and writing business plans for product concepts
- Once signed off, working with Production and Marketing Teams to schedule key deliverables in the light of overall launch requirements
- Participating in all phases of the product life cycle
- Contribute to setting Minimum Viable Product thresholds.
- Managing digital-editorial roles working on individual products
- Keeping on top of and reporting back on competitor activity to ensure we remain innovative

Knowledge, skills and experience

- 5+ years’ experience in publishing, with a demonstrable record of successfully advancing digital products
- Experience of signing partnership deals to create products from licensed content – whether from print or other media
- Self-starter, focused on the competitive landscape and who thrives on winning business and creating new products
- Creative flair, drive, determination and commercial nous
- Successful track record of working with partners/third party content providers
- Able to work with stakeholders both within and outside the business
- Demonstrable understanding of the value of the editorial process to product success
- Track record of meeting targets and deadlines
- Solid knowledge of emerging trends, in particular in relation to digital products
- Track record of working alongside digital development, sales and marketing teams to deliver the best products
- Good interpersonal and negotiation skills
