Do you want to set up and run a new DevOps function? A hands-on WinOps Engineer is required by a leading UK training company in London N7 to establish and run DevOps. This is a rare opportunity to set up a DevOps function from scratch so you will need to be strongly self-motivated, an excellent communicator and team player. The ideal candidate is likely to come from a WinOps or Microsoft stack development background or could be an operations expert with good scripting skills. If you have previously been involved in setting up a DevOps function you will be at an advantage in your application. You will be joining a talented, friendly IT team in a very pleasant and flexible working environment.

The DevOps Engineer will:

- Set up the DevOps function with established small teams of developers, DBAs testers and operations staff
- Design and implement the build, release, deployment, and configuration activities within the Engineering function
- Manage releases and establish a continuous integration and deployment capability
- Build and maintain tools for monitoring deployment and operational performance and integrate automated builds into test environments and code analysis tools
- Manage and troubleshoot environments alongside technical teams
- Provide design and implementation best practice and tool use for software configuration
- Design and develop infrastructure architectures alongside architects
- Develop automated scripts for server and software provisioning
- Advocate and promote knowledge sharing and create a DevOps culture across the entire engineering and operational functions

Mandatory Experience

- Software configuration management, software development/engineering, quality assurance, release and change management, and project management
- Version management and continuous integration tools
- Agile preferably SCRUM
- Implementation of automated deployment and configuration tools e.g. Puppet,Chef,Ansible,Octopus, etc
- Developing and supporting Microsoft based web systems and technologies e.g. .NET,C#,VB,SQL Server,Visual Studio,Team Foundation Server, etc

Skills that the client would be interested in:

- Development using web and db technologies e.g. HTML/DHTML,CSS,XML, JavaScript,Ajax,JSON,REST/SOAP, MySQL,NoSQL
- Administrating web server technologies - IIS, Apache & NGINX
- Implementing and utilising containerisation tech. e.g. Docker, Kubernetes
- Coding and scripting languages to aid deployment and configuration automation e.g. Powershell,VBScript,batch, Python,Perl,Ruby,Bash etc
- Practical knowledge of caching tools e.g. Redis, Memcached

Benefits
A competitive salary circa £55k-£72k dependent upon experience. The client offers a full and flexible benefits package. The post is a permanent and full time position based in North London
