The Role:
They are currently seeking to engage a Development Specialist on a 9 month fixed term maternity leave contract. Reporting to the Whole Life learning Project Manager, the Development Specialist will oversee the administration of the Research and Enabling Development Fund, including reviewing the application process and criteria, and making appropriate recommendations to the funding Panel; as well as providing secretariat support and overseeing the funds and expenditure.

In addition, they will provide support to the working groups and steering groups as part of the Sustainability Route Map programme, managing the ‘Systems Approach’ working group in particular. The role will support the working groups in identifying ongoing strategic direction, including conducting research on their behalf and matching their aims with potential funders. The role also assists in planning the strategic direction of the programme in line with the current business plan.

Key duties and responsibilities:
- Administer the Research and Development fund; reviewing applications and making recommendations; corresponding with applicants and grantees and promoting the Fund’s awareness to the wider membership.
- Conduct research and match potential funders to the Sustainability Route Map programme
- Perform a secretariat role for the Sustainability Route Map and Research, Development and Innovation towards Engineering (RIDEE) Fund committees
- Aid in updating the Sustainability Route Map and RDIEE web pages, copywriting and suggesting user improvements on an ongoing basis.
- Chase actions arising from either the RDIEE panel or the Sustainability Route Map working groups. Ensuring the RDIEE panel reach decisions on RDIEEE Fund applications and new calls for funding in a timely manner

The successful candidate will have:
- Excellent quantitative and qualitative research skills with a knowledge of different web tools
- Experience working in donor/customer/member environment
- Awareness of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the global development agenda.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent organizational and administrative skills
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office essential, including Project and online project management tools such as Trello or Teams
- The ability to convene, facilitate and manage diverse groups of expert members and staff on panels, in workshops, on working groups and in project teams. Building strong and credible relationships
- The ability to be a self-starter, able to work on their own initiative; prioritise a varied workload and deliver high quality outputs.
