Due to continued business growth, this company is pleased to offer the position of Drawing Office Manager.

This company is a major supplier of water treatment plant to the UK’s water companies, manufacturing a wide variety of plant and equipment at their factories in Indian Queens, Cornwall and Tavistock, Devon. Reporting to the Management team, the Drawing Office Manager’s principle duties shall include;

- Staff management, organisation and delegation of projects between draughtsmen and pre-production engineers, in recognition of differing skill sets.
- Provide guidance on design, production methods and use of software (primarily Autodesk AutoCAD).
- Promote the appropriate training and CPD of the drawing office team members.
- Monitoring and upholding the standards of drawing work produced, covering proposals, detailed designs and production drawings.
- Ensuring suitable time is both allocated to and taken by drawing office team members for tasks.
- Ensuring Drawing Office team members are aware of scheme specific design and budget constraints.
- Act as a designer and/or draughtsman on schemes as required.

Reporting to the managerial team, the Drawing Office Manager will be responsible for the routine collation of department related metrics for monthly reports on;
- Forecast of future Drawing Office workload
- Forecast of Drawing Office resource requirements
- Opportunities assessment of significant savings/efficiencies.

Ideal candidates will have a proven track record of design management within a busy engineering design environment and will have demonstrable experience in 2D and 3D design/drawing work.

A high level of experience with AutoDesk AutoCAD is essential, experience with Solidworks, BySoft, Navisworks and AutoDesk Plant 3D is also beneficial but not essential, as is experience in the use and implementation of ERP systems. Experience in people management will be essential as is a thorough competency with Microsoft office suite software.
