A family owned regional foodservice distributor, with depots in the Midlands, Oxfordshire and South West, requires an experienced, highly motivated, articulate and tenacious customer-focused individual to work in their busy Credit Control team located in Ilfracombe, reporting to the Credit Manager

The Role (duties and responsibilities):

Responsibility for all aspects of credit control function on a daily basis including:

- Prompt daily cash allocation and reconciliation
- Punctual resolution of account queries and disputes consummate with high levels of after sales service
- Placement of overdue customers on credit hold and liaising with sales and operations teams in controlled releasing of orders
- Timely collection of accounts to meet debtor day and cash collection targets, whilst maximising the company's cash flow and mitigating against bad debt exposure
- Maintain customer record database
- Administer all Accounts Receivable activities in compliance with company Credit Policy and in accordance with Terms and Conditions of Trading and Credit Insurance Contract
- Establish and maintain professional relationships at all levels both internally and externally
- Monthly controls and reporting (overdue reports, including reconciliation of debtor’s suspense account movements to debtor’s ledger control account; active participation and input into calculation of bad debt provisions and cash collection targets)
- Customer/Depot visits (as required)

Required Skills:

- Credit Control experience required (experience within the Foodservice Distribution sector being a distinct advantage, although not essential)
- Numerate and a good understanding of accounting
- Excellent organizational skills with drive and commitment to achieve results and in compliance with strict deadlines
- Proficiency in MS Office (email, excel and word) and in the use of financial computer applications
- Flexible and the ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining accuracy and the timely delivery of output
- Proven team player with strong communication and negotiation skills
- Experience in the application of credit insurance (desirable)

Working hours:
-37.5 hours per week
-Saturday working will be required on a rotational basis in performance of the role as will overtime working agreed at the discretion of the company

Training and development:
The successful candidate will be required to undertake a six month probationary period, during which time they will be be assessed on their performance, training and development needs. Support will also be provided to pursue qualifications relevant to the role on a reducing balance loan over 2 years
