This company is the largest supplier to the UK’s jewellery industry, offering customers over 18,000 products in various precious metals including silver, gold, palladium and platinum.

They require a Cost Accountant / Cost Analyst to join their Finance team.

The individual will support and advise the business on the set up and maintenance of all ‘master’ data this is key to ensuring seamless transactions from procurement of product through to point of sale. (The ‘Master’ data includes any data that is key to the smooth running of the business processes i.e. BOMs, Routes, Product information, Prices. Costs etc.)

You will be required to work closely with various departments across the organisation to gain a comprehensive understanding of how the business operates and its controls. In particular manufacturing processes and precious metal accounting systems.
A key annual project will be completing and presenting the annual costing model to the Senior Management Team. This project is pivotal to Company’s commercial strategic decision making for the forthcoming year.

Alongside this your main responsibilities would include:
- Maintenance of costing and pricing databases by planning, studying and collecting data to determine the cost of business activity.
- Protect the profitability by monitoring costs and preparing reports, comparing factors effecting process and profitability of products / services.
- Providing business modelling support (what if scenarios etc.)
- Contribute to the annual costing and P&L channel review, with specific responsibility for compiling and presenting the manufacturing costing model.
- Compiling and managing the monthly and annual stock valuation process.
- Day to day supervision of the team (of three)

The successful candidate will:

- Have a strong costing background with a relevant accounting qualification or practical experience (QBE).
- Have a strong ability to assess problem situations, identify causes, gather relevant data and present solutions.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment would be a distinct advantage.
- High level of knowledge of Microsoft Excel with the ability to manipulate large volumes of data.
- Exceptional attention to detail whilst maintaining the ability to work to strict deadlines.
- Must be able to collaborate and build positive relationships with teams outside the finance function.
- Have experience of preparing and presenting information to Senior Management.
- Be able to manage a small team.

Hours of work:

Total 37.5 hours per week, working a pattern of Monday – Thursday 08.30-16.45, Friday 08.30 – 15.30 with a 30 minute lunch break each day.
