Reports to: Operations Manager
Hours: Full Time, 42.5 hrs per week
Holiday: 28 days including public holidays
Salary: £50,000-£60,000 depending on experience & Company Car or mileage allowance
Probation: Six months

This company is a specialist contractor providing design, supply and installation of metal eaves, rainwater goods and specialist cladding, with offices in Stafford, Staffordshire and Kings Langley, Hertfordshire.

Position overview

The position is based at Kings Langley, Hertfordshire. It is mainly office-based, with some site visits required.

The Contracts Manager’s role is two-fold:

1. You will run the Contracts Department / Project Manager Team, overseeing 3-4 Project Managers and their project portfolios (typically 50 projects in total).

2. You will run some of your own projects, managing them in an efficient manner, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction, completing projects on time and within budget, and maximising gross profit without compromising quality.

Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience of at least 2 years in contracts management
- Successful project management experience
- CSCS Card, any level
- SSSTS – training will be provided
- Good knowledge of technical concepts and drawings

- Commercially minded, seeing opportunities to increase efficiency and save costs on a project without compromising quality
- Ability to multitask running multiple projects at once with conflicting priorities
- Purchasing negotiation skills
- Practically minded to ensure a solution that will work effectively and anticipate any problems in advance

- Strong planning and organisational skills to manage fitter schedules and delivery timings
- Flexible, 'can-do' attitude to achieve short notice requirements and turnarounds, delivering excellent service to our customers
- Excellent communication skills to work with site contacts and installers, keeping everyone 'in the loop' and documenting all information as supporting evidence for extra charges etc

Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Managing a team of Project Managers
- Allocation of resource and assistance in the Operation Team. Dependant on workload, the Contracts Manager may also operate as a Project Manager with a small portfolio of Projects
- Attend Senior Site Visits
- Project Budget
- General Management
- Receive job handovers from sales team and ensure a good understanding of the project
- Overseeing all projects throughout their duration

- Effective use of resources, removing pressure from the team

- Maximise gross profit returned in the overall
- Maximise gross profit returned per project
- ‘Right first time’ in stage management
- Velocity of delivery of project results
