This is an opportunity to join a long established, well respected, independent conference organising company specialising in financial services subjects. Most of the leading financial services companies send delegates to their events regularly and senior people are keen to accept invitations to speak at them. They choose topical, leading edge subjects and aim for thought leadership.

All their events are content driven, based on their in house research. They are held mainly in five star hotels in London in order to achieve the very high standards their clients expect. Some people will not attend any events except theirs.

This job is at the heart of the business. It involves identifying trends which affect financial services businesses and researching topics within a chosen theme to make up a day's conference programme. This is done by reading articles, sounding out their many contacts to get their views, choosing speakers to invite and agreeing the ground they will cover. Most of the research is done via email or telephone with occasional face to face meetings with key people. The results are summarised in marketing material written to promote the event to the paying delegates.

The role requires:

- Very high standard or written and spoken English
- Close attention to detail and accuracy
- An enquiring mind and a liking for in depth research
- An ability to analyse and evaluate unfamiliar subject matter
- Confidence to speak to senior people by phone and face to face
- Strong organisational abilities and a high work ethic

Previous experience as Conference Producer/Researcher, preferably in financial services, would be ideal but they would consider expertise in other sectors. They have found that a background in librarianship and/or journalism can be useful.

Salary: £35,000 to £45,000 per annum depending on experience and output.

Once fully established you may be eligible for their bonus scheme based on the results of events for which you have been responsible.

The normal office hours are 9 to 5 with an hour for lunch.

Flexible working hours, including some working from home, may also be possible for the right candidate after an initial period.

All employees are auto enrolled to NEST after three months.

Ample car parking space is available at their premises.

They are in a village location at Send, near Woking, Surrey. The easiest way to get there is by car. The Send exit from the A3 is about two miles south of junction 10 on the M25, or about four miles north of Guildford.

Alternatively, fast trains run frequently from Waterloo to Woking (27 minutes). From Woking Station to Send takes about fifteen minutes by bicycle. Bicycles can be stored at the station.
