This company specialises in distributing and manufacturing standard and specialist industrial fasteners. They are looking to recruit a Commodity Manager to join their established team in Uckfield, East Sussex.

The Role

Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain Development, your role will be to ensure that they lead the industry in logistical and supply chain solutions for their customer base. Ensuring the most cost effective, efficient and timely solutions are selected when shipping their product around the globe.

Key tasks include:

- To develop and implement strategies for the control and management of non-automotive vendors, on a global basis
- To source and develop relationships with capable vendors, consolidating the overall number of vendors
- To guide and coach the Sourcing teams on the non-automotive AVL and commercial discussions
- To achieve improvements in cost reductions and rebates
- To work closely with Purchasing, Sourcing, Sales and Quality disciplines on ad-hoc projects
- To support the global sites
- To influence, develop and implement Procurement strategy in both indirect and direct Procurement categories
- To implement the sourcing plan to deliver agreed savings

Working hours will be 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday.

The Candidate

You will need to be self-motivated, have excellent communication skills both verbal and written in order to be able to communicate and build good relationships with both external and internal customers. You will need to be able to work to deadlines ensuring supplier performance and remain focused at all times.

Key skills required:

- CIPS certification is desirable but not essential, as is P2P software/supplier management software experience
- Willing to travel regularly within mainland Europe and Asia and occasionally to the USA, along with a full driving license
- Experience of managing supplier relationships dealing with a range of cultures
- Forward-thinking and a strategic approach to the business
- Able to manage supplier performance, demonstrated history of achieving set targets
- Knowledge of the global sourcing market in particular the fastener industry would be a distinct advantage
