An opportunity for a Commercial Operations Manager has arisen with a Company in an exciting growth stage! Based at their brand-new Head Office in Port Solent Marina, salary range £40k-45k per annum plus benefits. Scope for flexible working.

This newly created role is with the UK’s leading Marine Science Technology Distributor. You will be commercially astute, organised, analytical, detail focused, with the ability to manage people.

You will work closely with the Managing Director, who has managed the Company through a growth period of 90% over the past 3 years and continues to focus on strategic growth and sales leadership. This role will enable the Company to continue to scale its systems and sustainably grow in a high-growth sector. You will be part of the Management team with contact with colleagues across all business functions.

You will be numerate and trustworthy, capable of taking a deep dive into different business functions, including finance, facilities, logistics and sales operations. You will be assisted by outsourced ICT, finance and HR support.

Key responsibilities:

Accountability/oversight of all central operational activities, including facilities, resources and finance

Commercial operational optimisation, deep dives into processes, margins and workflows, project management of larger sales/service team projects supported by the business technical experts

Oversight and maintenance of contracts / agreements with suppliers, partners, service providers and customers, contract / project management of more complicated sales and service orders

Facilities management including utilities (mainly provided by the landlord), ICT systems, supported by retained external partner

Maintaining and renewing of Company insurances

HR day-to-day operations including contract management and salaries – (largely outsourced payroll & HR)

General finance management & oversight, supported by the bookkeeper and external Finance Director. A good understanding of the P&L is key, commercial, financial activities and risk

Management of a small team

Essential:
- Proven Commercial Operations experience, including facilities, finance and processes
- Inquisitive, keen to learn
- Completer / finisher
- Highest level of integrity and reliability
- High level communication skills, adaptable in different situations
- Confident with technology
- Highly numerate and analytical, excellent attention to detail
- Interest in the underwater world and/or The Blue Economy

Desirable:
- Business/Engineering/Tech related degree
- Finance/accountancy qualifications preferred, (not essential)
- Staff management experience
- International business experience
