This commercial finance brokerage is an incredibly ambitious startup venture with backing from one of the North West’s most respected PE houses. They are relationship focused but tech-driven and assist UK businesses who are looking for funding. This is an extremely exciting/rewarding opportunity for the right candidate.

The Broker/Underwriter will be assisting commercial clients in sourcing and securing finance to purchase, expand or re-finance their business, primarily unsecured commercial finance, property finance, invoice and trade finance.

The ideal candidate will also be able to analyse potential risk of the deal against lender criteria to assist in the referral of qualified leads to a prestigious panel of lenders.

Existing relationships with lenders preferred but not required and must have an interest in using their experience to assist in formulating and finalising initial KPIs, processes and procedures to facilitate and optimise the customers’ journey from application to completion (and all points in-between). This will include the initial fact finding call with customers, underwriting of customer applications, negotiations with customers and lenders, streamlining administration task within the process and completing the finance procedure.

The role will evolve as the business grows and the lead broker/underwriter would ideally take on oversight of the business operations, including recruitment and assigning resource to take on the optimised tasks that are identified in the initial 3-6 months of the venture (this will include a full budgeting process).

Main Responsibilities:
- Maintain up to date market knowledge to enable the identification of appropriate finance solutions for customers including but not limited to bridging, invoice and trade finance.
- To source and present facilities to clients.
- To work to fulfil both the company and individual business development plan.
- To maintain ongoing contact with prospective clients to ensure the company is foremost in their minds for any business finance opportunity.
- To prepare and submit quality applications for finance on behalf of clients.
- To identify and develop relationships with active lending institutions.
- To plan, and manage several ongoing assignments at any one time whilst ensuring tight deadlines are met.
- To be aware of FCA guidelines and regulations and have a good knowledge of the regulatory framework to understand what we can and cannot do for customers and how the customer journey should be undertaken to ensure best practices are achieved.
- To maintain professional expertise through course attendance, reading financial publications and further training.
- To understand what Treating Customers Fairly means and embed this within the business.

Experience:
- 3-5 years commercial finance broker experience (B2B) in either bridging/development finance/trade and invoice finance.
- Management experience in that broker environment.
- Experience in prime, mid and subprime lending.
