Charity Deputy Director Finance, Operations and Policy

The trustees of this charity are seeking to appoint a highly-motivated person with business experience to take responsibility for the operations, finance and policy administration of the charity. The post holder will be working closely with a deputy director responsible for fundraising, communications and events. This is a small charity which is run by the trustees, a small number of paid staff and a large number of volunteers. They are looking for someone to work with the trustees in the exciting, busy period of growth. As the organisation develops the role may change to meet the need of a fast growing charity.

Areas of responsibility will include:

Human Resources
- HR responsibility for all staff management and development
- Staff training, appraisals and recruitment
- Volunteer management and development of volunteer policy and training
- Risk management
- Core services
- Responsibility for all systems and their development
- Data protection
- Ensuring the efficient running of the office and developing the space appropriate for purpose
- Budgeting
- Governance
- Health and safety
- Submitting annual report for charity commission/OSCR
- Responsibility for development and compliance of charity policies
- Insurance
- Setting budgets
- Financial planning
- Financial reporting to trustees
- Management of account team
- Developing plans for income generation for each garden site
- Development of new garden projects
- Liaison with NHS managers
- Organisation of legal agreements
- Ensuring compliance with local regulations
- Ensuring contracts with third party contractors in place
- Overseeing tendering processes with trustees
- Garden operations
- Developing relationships with new spinal units
- Overseeing construction and build of projects & liaison with project manager
- Implementation of project once garden opened
- Developing blue print management plan for cross organisation service delivery
- Developing budgeting plans for income generation for each garden site
- Service delivery
- Overseeing budget compliance of each garden
- Any other duties as required by the trustees

This is a full-time position and may requires occasional weekend or evening work. The role will be based at the charity’s offices in Salisbury.

The charity's trustees are looking for someone who has the following skills:
- Proven track record and senior experience of managing a team
- Graduate/postgraduate qualifications in business/finance
- Experience of working to budgets and financial planning
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly organised with acute attention to detail
- Strategic thinker
- Well developed and proven IT capabilities and adaptability to new technologies
- Energetic, enthusiastic and well presented
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
