This leading Nationwide provider of case management and rehabilitation services requires Carers/ Support Workers to be part of a team providing one-to-one support (including personal care) to a young boy born in 2006 who has neurological disabilities, epilepsy and complex physical needs. Our client is wheelchair dependent and relies on others for all aspects of his daily care, he has a wheelchair adapted vehicle. Our Client is not able to talk and verbalizes through the use of sounds, he is doubly incontinent and fed via a jejunostomy tube.

Carer/Support Worker Role Overview:
The Carer/ Support Worker will be required to provide one to one care and support to our client, who is a happy young boy who loves watching his favourite TV programmes and interacting on a one to one basis with others as well as being outdoors. He enjoys interacting with toys that elicit sound and lights when activated and playing in his garden.

Our Client lives at home with his parents and younger brothers. This post will involve working in the client’s home as well as attending activities and therapy sessions in the community with our client and supporting his family.

Carer/Support Worker Attributes:

*Physically Fit, for moving & handling purposes.

Experience of working with disabled children is essential.

A full driving license (endorsements to be disclosed) and willingness to drive the client’s wheelchair adapted vehicle is essential.

Confident about working in a family home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of the client and his family; able to demonstrate the need for confidentiality and privacy and reliable and trustworthy.

Being able to be proactive, encouraging, creative and having a good sense of humour are all important.

Flexible - to help with the general running of the household as and when the need arises

Non Smoker – this post operates in a non-smoking environment.

Hours:
Shifts available include 7:00am – 8:30am & 4:00pm – 7:00pm Wednesdays and Thursdays Plus 7:00am – 2:00pm Saturdays. Additional hours are available in the school holidays.

Remuneration:
£11.00 per hour Monday – Friday and £13.00 per hour weekends and Bank Holidays, depending on experience.
We offer a full induction and training programme, comprehensive supervision and management support. Free DBS check.
