Carer / Support Worker Required
Bank Hours Available (both day & night hours)

Warsash, Southampton

This leading Nationwide provider of case management and rehabilitation services requires a Carer/ Support Worker to support our client, a 4 year old boy, with neurological disabilities. He is a very happy young boy and thrives on one to one attention. He enjoys interacting with toys that elicit sound and lights when activated and playing with his brother. He is not able to talk and verbalises through the use of sounds. He lives at home with his parents and younger brother.

Carer/Support Worker Role Overview:
The Carer/ Support Worker will be required to provide one to one care and support to our client, and his family. This post will involve working in the client’s home as well as attending groups and therapy sessions in the community.

During night shifts, the Carer/ Support Worker will be required to monitor and attend to their client as required, and will be expected to keep accurate notes of his sleep pattern, including reasons for waking and actions required resettling. The Carer/Support Worker will assist with all aspects of care and personal hygiene required during the day or night. This may include the giving of medication, liquids and feeding as well as changing of nappies and bed linen.

Carer/Support Worker Attributes:

*Physically Fit, for moving & handling purposes.

Experience of working with children/adults with special needs.

Experience of Epilepsy preferred.

Experience of working waking nights preferred.

Confident about working in a family home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of the client and his family; able to demonstrate the need for confidentiality and privacy and reliable and trustworthy.

Being able to be proactive, encouraging, creative and having a good sense of humour are all important.

Flexible - to help with the other children in the family and general running of the household as and when the need arises

A full driving license (endorsements to be disclosed) and willing to drive the clients adapted vehicle.

Non Smoker – this post operates in a non-smoking environment.

Hours:
Bank Shifts available including before and after school hours, school holidays and nights (8:00pm to 8:00am).

Remuneration:
£10.00 per hour Monday – Friday and £11.00 per hour weekends and Bank Holidays, depending on experience. Ongoing training and support provided. Free DBS check.
