OUR CLIENT:
Our client is a 13-year-old boy who has enduring and complex needs as a consequence of an illness when he was a few months of age. He is dependent on others for all aspects of his daily living needs.

REMUNERATION:
£12 - £14 ph dependent upon day and time of shift worked.

HOURS

Maternity Cover:
Monday, Thursday and Saturday 4.00 pm to 9.00 pm (fortnightly) plus Saturday 9.00 am to 9.00 pm (fortnightly).

Bank Staff:
Various shifts available which include Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 4.00 pm to 9.00 pm. School holiday hours 9.00 am to 4.00 pm Monday to Friday.

Night Waking Staff:
12 hours shifts equating to 36 Hours per week – these hours can be agreed as part of a job share.

Week 1: Monday, Thursday and Friday night 20:45 to 08:45

Week 2: Monday, Thursday and Saturday night 20:45 to 08:45

ROLE OVERVIEW:
To assist with all aspects of care and support relating to our client. The Carer/Night Waker will also be expected to implement daily therapeutic programmes that have been designed to promote his treatment by his team of Therapists. The Carer/Night Waker has a general role in promoting his learning, care and independence in the home and community.

ATTRIBUTES:
Previous experience of working with children with complex special needs preferred but enthusiasm, patience and willingness to learn is as desirable. Confident and sensitive about working in a family home and responsive and receptive to the needs and wishes of the client and his family. Able to demonstrate the need for confidentiality and privacy, a good sense of humour, reliable and trustworthy. A full driving license is also required.

Essential Skills & Experience:
- Full UK driving license
- Aptitude and desire to work with young people with complex needs
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of confidentiality & privacy
- Fit & well to carry out outdoor activities.
- Confident, sensitive & prepared to listen & learn new things
- Willingness to learn.
- Patience and enthusiasm.
- Responsible, trustworthy, tolerant & good sense of humour
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as under own initiative
- Excellent planning, communication & social skills
- Organised & an excellent time keeper

Ongoing training & support will be provided.

An enhanced DBS is a pre-requisite for the post. A conviction will not necessarily prevent you from being employed.

Satisfactory references and proof of eligibility to work in the UK will be required.
