Job Purpose
To produce high quality woollen bobbins to the standards of count and evenness required by the spinning department in an efficient manner, ensuring superior quality to give good spinning and ultimately weaving performance.
Key Tasks and Accountabilities:
1. Ensure that input materials conform to the order requirements in order to meet quality standards and maintain customer satisfaction.
2. Perform quality control checks for count and evenness to meet quality standards.
3. Troubleshoot issues to diagnose the reasons for and report faulty material to the production manager to maintain quality standards and customer satisfaction.
4. Carry out machine operation functions, including adjustments and maintenance, as per job breakdown to maximise machine efficiency and production rates and minimise the unit cost of manufacturing.
5. Report machine faults and any processing difficulties which cannot be readily rectified to the supervisor in a timely manner so as not to hinder production.
6. Promote continuous improvement initiatives in order to make production as efficient as possible in order to meet customer delivery deadlines and expectations.
Knowledge and aptitudes required:
- Experience of working in textile manufacturing, particularly a multi-skilled woollen spinning factory
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills
- Knowledge of the carding process
- Previous experience, or the ability, to operate machinery and follow set procedures and instructions
- Knowledge and understanding of quality, shade, blend and other lot identification systems would be an advantage
- Experience of fault finding and problem solving
