This is an exciting opportunity for a CAD Engineer to join a well-regarded, growing engineering business in Yeovil, in the heart of Somerset. The business takes a significant amount of pride in customer service, therefore if this is something you relate to then this could be the ideal opportunity for you.

Working closely with their customers, the business develops end-to-end engineering solutions whereby everything is managed in-house, from design to manufacture and assembly. However, it doesn't stop there as their team of talented Engineers will subsequently visit customer sites to install and commission their systems. Their main area of expertise is in the delivery of hygienic process solutions and systems within the dairy, food and beverage industry.

The opportunity

As a CAD Engineer, you will play a key role within the design team and be responsible for producing detailed, technical 3D CAD drawings on Autodesk Inventor in line with customer requirements and specifications. Working closely with the wider engineering and manufacturing teams, you will be involved with all aspects of the design process including model generation, creating bills of material, taking part in design review meetings and supporting the manufacturing and project teams with drawing queries.

In what is a varied role, you will be responsible for ensuring that your drawings meet the required standards and specifications, whether these are from the customer's perspective or regulatory standards and compliance (such as CE Marking) and quality standards (including ISO 9001). Taking into account the nature of the role, you will be required to liaise with various internal and external stakeholders (including customers), therefore it is important that you are an effective and articulate communicator with good interpersonal skills.

About you

To be considered for this opportunity, it is important that you have previous experience in a similar type of role and are fully proficient in the use of CAD (with a training course/qualification to support this). If you have previous experience in using Autodesk Inventor, this will be highly advantageous to your application.

If you have a formal qualification in Product Design or Mechanical Engineering, then great, but this will not preclude you from being considered. Taking into account the nature of the position, it is important that you have an understanding of the associated health and safety legislation in relation to this line of work.

What is just as important is that you are self-motivated, able to work well as part of a team and on your own initiative and to remain calm when working under pressure. Your level of accuracy will need to be high with the ability to pay meticulous attention to detail.

A competitive salary in addition to company benefits are on offer to the successful applicant. You will need to be a full UK driving licence holder to be considered. Apply today to discuss your application with them
