A Loughborough based live events and bespoke creative technical solutions company are seeing a highly motivated CAD Designer to join their growing Design and Build team. This company creates custom exhibition stands, delivers inventive conference production and develops interactive experiential marketing solutions for major UK and international brands.

Their design team play a pivotal role in delivering their clients’ live events; working with their project managers following a project brief, turning the initial concept into reality by producing drawings for approval and details for manufacture.

The successful candidate will thrive on managing the design development process for multiple complex projects concurrently, invariably within short deadlines; using their knowledge and experience to take into account all relevant considerations including price, materials, manufacturing techniques, timescales and finish. They are looking for someone who is passionate about exceeding client expectations and delivering exceptional results.

The Role:

- Producing project design drawings in a timely manner for successful internal/client sign off
- Providing constructive input to colleagues regarding design, construction and finish options to ensure projects can be delivered on time to the required standard, factoring in both budget and available resources
- Developing designs into detailed specifications and creating supporting materials for use by the build team, including working drawings, cutting lists and machining data
- Adjusting and adapting designs as briefs evolve and client’s expand/alter their requirements
- Specify, quantify and order materials on a job by job basis
- Create site documentation e.g. site layouts, instruction manuals or assembly drawings

Owing to the size of the business and the nature of their industry, they are looking for an individual who is happy to take on additional responsibilities as required in order to support colleagues and ensure the successful delivery of projects.

They are looking for someone with ...

- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- The ability to tailor a design for manufacture
- Experience in Joinery manufacture and finishing techniques, as well as broad experience of other materials e.g. metal, acrylic and print
- Strong business acumen and the ability to make commercial decisions to ensure projects are delivered on budget
- Experience of specifying, quantifying and ordering required materials and supplies, ensuring smooth workflow for the build team
- An understanding of excel and other office related applications
- Previous experience of producing 3D visuals or a desire to learn would be advantageous
- Experience of working in additional design software packages such as Inventor, Solidworks or SketchUp would be beneficial
- 5 years’ relevant experience
