This plumbing/mechanical company based in north Portsmouth is looking to fill the role of buyer, responsible for ensuring that products and services are supplied at the lowest possible purchase price in the timeliest manner.

Key Duties;
- Negotiation with suppliers to secure terms, rebates, agreed prices, lead times and supply assurance.
- Raising specific contracts for Sub Contractors, with assistance from Contract Managers.
- Maintenance of their best practise records, including management of their current supplier base and oversee/development of new suppliers.
- Maintenance of their product database on SAGE Accounts.
- Awareness of market trends, new product availability / knowledge.
- Work closely with internal staff and external suppliers to ensure the most cost-effective solutions with respect to materials and goods.
- Raise purchase orders and negotiate contracts on behalf of the Company for the supply of requisitioned or specified materials and goods.
- Control of order database through to delivery confirmation. - Including chase up of shortfall in delivery, disputed invoices.
- Manage product quality control and ISO9001 non conformity reporting procedures.
- Control of items on hire.
- Arrangement of goods returns.
- Maintenance of their equipment register.

Personal Specification of the Buyer;
- Proven Purchasing experience.
- Experience within the construction industry.
- Excellent communication & negotiation skills.
- Excellent IT skills including MS Office.
- Driven and flexible attitude.
- Enthusiastic and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
