Buyer – £25-30,000 per annum

This stable and successful family business based in Birmingham offers a range of engine cooling systems, heating and air conditioning systems and fluid reservoirs. They are the market leader for engine cooling and HVAC systems for the bus and coach market, supplying product globally. From a simple radiator design through to a complete cooling module with radiator/ charge air cooler and the option of viscous, hydraulic and electric fan drives, This company can provide the complete 3D design, prototype test and production supply.

The Role
The Buyer will provide support in a varied and challenging environment, to provide a cost effective purchase over a range of commodities and services. You will be involved in setting of contracts, improving supply chain relationships, arranging cost-down initiatives. Working with Quality, Engineering and Planning departments, you will need to participate in supplier improvement exercises or resource that commodity, investigate foreign suppliers as a potential in achieving the above requirements, as well as, bringing new suppliers on-line from around the world.

Outline Duties
- Purchasing project prioritisation and management
- Managing purchasing information, systems, and purchasing services
- Managing suppliers, relationships, SLA's (service level agreements)
- Setting, monitoring and managing delivery performance system as well as reviewing QA performance grading
- Forecasting and planning
- Negotiating and administration of purchasing contracts
- Cost saving budgeting and targeting
- Outsourcing strategy / development / management
- Regulatory awareness, compliance and information communication
- International trading issues/ imports/ legal awareness and management
- Visiting and negotiating international supply contracts

Personal Skills
- Ideally – CIPS qualified or working towards
- Strong negotiation ability and an assertive approach to problem resolution
- Excellent administrative, task and time management skills with attention to detail
- Previous experience and knowledge of recognised purchasing methods
- IT literate with a good working knowledge of MS Office packages
- Flexibility, a good team working spirit and a positive ‘can do, will do’ attitude
- Keen to participate and contribute towards continuous improvement
- Technical product knowledge and understanding
- Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team

Work Location: Wharfdale Rd, Tyseley or other sites in Tyseley or Elmdon

Working Hours: 8:00 to 17:00 – Monday to Thursday// 8:00 to 15:00 – Friday. Some flexibility will be required
