The Role in a Nutshell
Business Travel Consultants are required to proactively facilitate the travel needs of our clients. They must ensure the most value added, effective and convenient solutions are offered, having listened to the clients’ requirements. Maintaining the highest level of customer service at all times the business Travel Consultant puts the client’s needs at the heart of everything they do to secure long term relationships and repeat business with the client.
Key Job Tasks
Client Experience
- Provide exceptional customer service, offering a range of value added solutions to meet or exceed client needs within the scope of the client’s policy.
- Actively listen to the client’s travel requirements, anticipate needs and find innovative solutions to meet or exceed their requirements.
- Attend client seminars in order to facilitate good client relations as appropriate.
- Assist clients who may be calling for another team member who is busy.
- Promote and “upsell” added extras such as hotels / car hire / insurance and our visa service. Regularly check and action airline queue messages and monitor existing bookings that are on hold.
- Offer three options to the client including the lowest possible fare.
Team Working
Exhibit positive behaviour, acting as a team player to ensure the overall success of the team and the Operations function.
- Make new members of team feel welcome, knowledge sharing as appropriate.
- Actively contribute to achieve the SLA targets and team incentives.
- Attend weekly team updates and participate in quarterly team meetings.
- Enhance our service by taking overflow calls for the whole Reservations Team when necessary.
- Participate in team activities, providing support to team members as required.
Personal Standards and Target Achievement
- Proactively manage personal productivity, profitability and quality assurance targets to meet or exceed requirements.
- Ensure all necessary actions are taken to reach and maintain SLA targets.
- Maintain the company standards for monthly booking checks and ticket book.
- Continually keep fully abreast of airline contracts, routings and services.
- Attend all offered training to ensure all knowledge of airlines, fares, services, products and benefits thereof are kept fully up to date.
- Liaise with Supervisor and provide feedback in monthly updates.
What skills you should have
Essential
- Minimum of 1 year customer service experience/travel consultant experience.
- Minimum 5 grade C GCSE’s including English and Maths.
- Previous experience of working for an independent travel, youth/student travel, or marine travel specialist
- Good level of computer literacy.
- Experience of a GDS.
- Experience with Net and Published fares.
- Good level of grammatical and verbal English.
- Good level of where places are geographically
- Be receptive to all training given for personal development
- Knowledge of worldwide airlines
