This is an opportunity to join an established logistics software company as a Business Development Executive based at the University of Reading. The company sells cloud based business management software to logistics companies throughout the world. Due to the rapid expansion in the market for their software products the company requires a Business Development Executive. In addition to following up web leads generated by the company’s website, the person selected will proactively develop new business via all other communications channels such as telephone, email and face to face. They will be responsible for the complete sales cycle from lead generation through to software implementation.

Whilst the role is mainly office based there is a requirement to travel, therefore a driving licence and a flexible approach to managing time is required. They will be working as part of a small highly motivated team to drive sales of the company’s highly desirable software products.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in building a strong Company brand through targeted marketing, PR and communication activities, including collation, coordination, forwarding and evaluation of communications to clients;
- Communication and contact with clients including day-to-day responsibility for answering queries received through the website and by telephone
- Maintain the customer relationship management system (CRM) and provide monthly updates to the Managing Director
- Attending, planning and implementing trade exhibitions and events
- Optimize the company’s website for lead generation
- Researching organisations and individuals online (especially on social media) to identify new leads and potential new markets.
- Prepare Power Point presentations and sales displays

Experience
- 2 A levels or equivalent desirable;
- Experience in customer facing environment, telephone and/or face to face
- Website management and input experience;
- Marketing, including digital marketing experience an advantage

Skills, Abilities and Knowledge
- Initiative, drive and ability to fill up own “in tray”
- Strong and assertive written and verbal communications skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, focused on customer needs with a desire to assist
- Strong organisational, prioritisation and time management skills, able to manage multiple workloads and work demands
- Ability to create and maintain accurate, accessible and organised documentation
- Highly competent in using email, internet applications, MS Windows and Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and social media applications and platforms
- Flexible and adaptable, willing to continually learn and develop skills
- Able to work autonomously, a self-motivated completer-finisher
- Creative and a problem solver
