They are growing quickly with ambitious growth plans and require a dynamic and ambitious Chartered Rights of Light Surveyor to join and lead a team of 5 persons. You must naturally be a self-starter and good communicator. You must adopt a technically compliant and commercial attitude to projects with a strong focus on the customer relationship.

Main purpose of Job:
This is a strategically key role, we are looking for an expert in UK Rights of Light legislation to lead the daylight modelling division proposition alongside the company’s growth plans. The candidate will likely be working in a specialist firm at Senior/Associate level with aspirations to develop to Director level in the near future.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a departmental team of 5 persons
- Autonomy and accountability of the business unit performance & P&L
- Carry out site inspections, draft reports and lead the existing modelling and daylighting team
- Comply with all relevant regulations including health and safety
- Proactive business development activities and maintain good client relationships
- Prepare reports, schedules and notices (where applicable) for scheme proposals, drawings and carry out risk assessments for improvements, refurbishments and new build schemes.
- Examine legal documents and deeds and assess relevance
- Advise clients on neighbours’ rights to light and compensation
- Consult with clients and present findings
- Complete planned work programmes and projects to schedule
- Undertake design review & technical guidance to the design team
- Provide technical input for proposal bids
- Train and mentor junior staff
- Update key technical documents
- Expert witness
- Ability to work autonomously
- Preparing bid proposals

Knowledge Skills and Experience:
Essential
- Degree qualified in Building Surveying or equivalent
- A minimum 10 years’ experience in Rights of Light
- Undertaking Daylight modelling analysis and Rights of Light modelling and consultation
- Experience and confidence using AutoCAD, Google Sketchup software
- Fully competent with Microsoft Excel, Office and PowerPoint
- Experience providing expert witness for planning/civil representation
- Knowledge and use of CAD.
- Chartered Surveyor and Member of RICs

Preferable:
- Knowledge and/or experience of undertaking party wall surveying duties

The company package is as follows:
