Main Purpose of the Job:

To support the Finance Manager and Finance Director in the provision of accurate management information on a timely basis for business decision making purposes.

Main Responsibilities:

- Month end processes which may include activities such as managing accruals, posting journals, monitoring prepayments and reviewing costs to budget
- Assist in the audit process and in timely preparation of the annual statutory accounts and other relevant reporting requirements
- Support the Finance Manager and Finance Director through preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Ad hoc project work and financial analysis as required
- Ensure timely, accurate and efficient management of monthly payroll
- Manage payroll tax matters (PAYE, NIC etc.) to ensure tax liabilities and other related external reporting are met in a timely fashion
- Preparing expenses and benefits for annual P11Ds
- Sales and purchases posting to the general ledger
- Daily invoice finance uploads and MER
- Quarterly VAT returns
- Manage the posting and reconciliation of travel claims and salary deductions as required
- Manage pension contribution submissions
- Dealing with adhoc payroll queries from employees and HMRC

KPI/Measures:
- Weekly reports and analysis

Essential skills, qualifications and knowledge:

- Good level of education, actively studying towards an accountancy qualification
- Accounting experience including posting to the general ledger
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrated time management skills
- High level of numeracy and accuracy with attention to detail and quality of work
- Persistent attitude to query resolution
- Good PC skills including the ability to produce clear and accurate spreadsheets
- Pro-active approach, taking ownership of assigned responsibilities
- Ability to clearly communicate in a professional manner
- Experience of inputting monthly payroll covering both salaried and hourly paid employees
- Experience in handling payroll queries from employees
- how their pay was computed and tax code queries
- Experience in dealing with third parties
- A strong desire to effect continuous improvements to the systems and processes that are within the scope of the role as defined; documenting procedural changes as necessary
