Assistant Branch Manager

This is an opportunity to join one of the UK’s leading independent builders’ merchants and has been supplying materials to the trade for over 200 years. They have 39 branches throughout the South West, Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire and a turnover in excess of £90m.

They have exciting opportunities for Assistant Branch Manager’s to join their teams at various branches, including; Malvern, Ross on Wye, Evercreech, Bridgwater and Redruth. Please state which location you wish to apply for.

What will I be responsible for?

The Assistant Branch Manager’s role is to fundamentally assist the Branch Manager in driving forward sales, maximizing margins and profitability, controlling costs and identifying new opportunities. Ensuring that their customers receive outstanding levels of service is a key priority. As an inspiring leader, communicator and team builder Assistant Branch Managers must be able to interpret complex information and make decisions quickly.

Their branches are busy environments, focused on serving their customers, and whilst they work hard they believe that a friendly, successful team makes coming to work really worthwhile.

Who are they looking for?

The Assistant Branch Manager requires a broad range of skills, needing to be adept at managing performance, delivering growth and driving operational efficiencies whilst being outward looking and bold. You must have:
- Previous experience in either the retail or construction industry, ideally (not necessarily) with a builder’s merchant / or, a recent graduate looking for their first Management role in a Commercial environment.
- Proven experience leading and managing teams, ability to develop and coach others
- Ability to delegate and coach teams to develop
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills
- Ability to demonstrate excellent listening skills and problem solving
- Strong sales and customer service skills
- Excellent organisation skills
- Ability to build relationships
