An experienced, hands on and customer focused Application Support Manager is required by a leading UK education company to manage its Application Support function.

The ideal candidate will have managed application support in a corporate environment and have probably come from a development background. You will need to be an excellent communicator, problem solver and decision maker.

The position is home based in the UK with frequent travel to London and Manchester and will suit someone who likes being able to manage their own time and priorities. You will be joining a talented IT team which is undergoing significant growth and change.

The Application Support Manager will: -
- Manage the application support function for a large portfolio of systems
- Take ownership of application incidents, ensuring priorities are set, resources are assigned and communications are managed efficiently
- Lead the diagnosis and rectification of software/database/services problems across all platforms
- Co-ordinate incidents between 1st, 2nd and 3rd line teams
- Act as a point of escalation for major issues and co-ordinate communications
- Manage project budgets associated with systems support
- Develop resourcing schedules and systems maintenance and improvement plans
- Ensure that applications support contributes to goals set for systems performance, availability and integrity
- Establish effective working relationships with support teams and key business stakeholders

Candidate Pre-requisites: -

You should have:
- Extensive experience as an Applications Support Manager ideally supporting applications using both Microsoft and Oracle and ideally you will have a developers background
- Project management experience
- A strong customer focus being able to anticipate stakeholder expectations
- Degree qualified or hold professional qualifications and experience e.g. Prince 2 Foundation or ITIL
- Strong planning skills including use of project management tools
- Familiarity with application developer tools e.g. Visual Studio and Oracle Developer
- Some Familiarity with .net, SQL, C# and Oracle, PL/SQL, IIS & Apache
