This is an opportunity to join a dynamic product design consultancy based in Chepstow. They are focussed on developing innovative products from an initial concept right through to production, and work with a diverse client base that includes start-up companies to well established organisations.

They are a small design team that has a track record of developing high quality technology, healthcare and industrial products. In addition, they support the Welsh Government in its delivery of the SMART Innovation programme.

Responsibilities:
- Undertake technical and commercial research.
- Deliver internal idea generation sessions.
- Communicate design ideas through a high level of digital sketching.
- Create 3D CAD models of parts and assemblies.
- Demonstrate the effectiveness of new designs through prototyping.
- Engage with suppliers to source any required components.
- Visit relevant trade shows and strategic project partners to accumulate industry knowledge.
- Manage project time-lines, updating the client and key staff when required.

Skills & Experience:
- MSc/MEng Mechanical Design, Engineering Design, Product Design (or similar).
- Ideally 5 years but a minimum or 3 years experience.
- Solid understanding of the product development process.
- Good understanding of engineering principles, e.g. mechanics, thermal transfer, fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, acoustics.
- Good understanding and operation of 3D CAD systems, i.e. Fusion 360.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes, e.g. injection moulding, machining, casting.
- Good understanding of 3D printing processes, in particular FDM, SLA and SLS.

Work Monday to Thursday, 08:30 – 17:00; Friday 08:30 - 14:30 (30 mins lunch)

The company is in the process of relocating to a large office on an industrial estate in Chepstow. This is within a sensible commuting distance of Bristol, Gloucester, Newport and Cardiff.
