Accounting Technician - Bristol (near Long Ashton)

Exciting new position has been created for a part qualified accountant someone working towards AAT or ACMA qualification, with development plan into a leadership role.

This long established and growing Bristol business will offer the right candidate structured development. You will report directly to the Finance Director. You will play an important role in coordinating all departmental tasks and participate in the implementation of an extensive new ERP business system planned for early 2018.

You will be strong technically using spreadsheets and interrogating businesses systems. We have a small finance team, therefore hands on approach is vital, as the requirements will be highly varied offering cover for all team members and controlling the transactional activities up to trial balance level.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the activities of sales, purchase and general ledgers to trail balance
- Treasury work including bank reconciliations
- Managing fixed assets, and various periodic reports
- Overall responsible for credit control ensuing that debt and customer relationships are maintained
- Provide cover for departmental activities for holidays and during periods of absences
- Assisting with the preparation of Management Accounts and balance sheet reconciliations
- Working with the FD to develop technology to provide prompt, accurate and informative information to service the business, customers and corporate governance.
- Hands on role processing payments / queries

Skills / attitude

- People person with good grasp of Microsoft products such as Excel and Word
- Great attitude/hands on, concerned with the smooth running of the team
- Working towards Associating of Accounting Technicians qualification or ACMA / ACCA
- Technically enthusiastic with a desire to learn all aspects of the ERP system although training will be given
- Good inter personal skills to develop into leadership and coaching skills
- Interest in business with a desire to use complex data to advance activities and solve problems
- Highest level of attention to detail for yourself and that of the team
- Maintain honesty and discretion of confidential information whilst working closely and influencing other departments within the business
- Comfortable professional approach both in person and on the telephone
