Virgin Media Announces Call Centre Recruitment Process

Virgin Media has launched a new recruitment process for the 250 new staff needed for its new call centre in Swansea.
The growing broadband provider has said that it will be creating a total of 650 new jobs across the UK this year, as it strives to keep up with growing demand for its television and broadband services. Around 500 of the new positions will be in call centres with a further 150 roles being created for engineers.
The new Swansea call centre will be the second in the city for the Virgin brand, after Virgin Atlantic chose to locate one of its main service centres in the city last year.
Virgin Media’s chief customer and networks officer, Paul Buttery, said that they hoped that they would be able to provide many opportunities for young people who have found it particularly difficult to find steady work during the economic crisis.
"This investment will benefit a number of communities across the country and we're particularly proud that we're able to provide so many young people with a much needed start in these challenging economic times,” he said.
The announcement of the new jobs came just as Virgin Media revealed that it had turned around its loss of £73.8 million in the third quarter of 2011, into a £48.2 million profit in the fourth quarter.
