Recruitment Drive Launched For Building Trade Apprentices

A Yorkshire-based construction, maintenance and painting company has launched a new recruitment drive for apprentices, taking advantage of all methods of recruitment to find the best staff.

Seddon Group, which operates from offices in Huddersfield in the Yorkshire region, has launched the drive to find 75 new apprentices in a bid to tackle the rising levels of youth unemployment in the region.

The company is offering opportunities for young people to gain professional training while they work across a range of disciplines, including bricklaying, plumbing, plastering, carpentry and joinery, painting and decorating and maintenance.

The chairman of Seddon Property Services, Stuart Seddon, said that the launch of the recruitment scheme this year and the decision to take on 75 apprentices reflected the company’s celebration of its 75th year of recruiting and supporting apprentices in the building and building maintenance trades.

“We are committed to training the next generation,” Seddon told the Huddersfield Daily Examiner.

The company’s apprentices are supervised throughout their training by an apprentice manager, who guides and advises them during their training and supports their college-based learning. While on site they work alongside the most experienced staff to learn and benefit from their expertise. The deadline for applications is 27 April.
