Recruitment Agencies See Booming Business

It has been reported by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) that the recruitment sector grew by 4.3% in the financial year between 2011 and 2012. As companies increasingly look to fill vacancies with high quality and experienced staff, they are turning to specialists in even greater numbers. With recruiters able to provide skilled staff and minimise hiring risks, the industry is set to continue thriving.

In the year up to April 2012, the recruitment agency sector was shown to have grown to a worth of £25.7bn. With more firms looking to fill staffing voids over the coming months, the sector is set to grow substantially this year too, with estimates putting the worth for this financial year at £27bn.

Kevin Green, the REC’s chief executive, explained that a lack of skilled workers was forcing companies to use recruiters in a bid to find experienced and highly recommended job candidates. In addition, he said that recruiters would not be resting on their laurels and would be looking to increase their quality.

“The ones who survive and thrive will be those who stay ahead of these trends and become expert providers of talent within their particular niche sectors. The future is all about being an inch wide and a mile deep in terms of focus and knowledge,” Mr Green said, adding that successful agencies would be using the current employment trends to ensure that they catered to firms and job candidates over the next year.
