Primark Turns to Online Recruitment to Staff New Store

Retail giant Primark is turning exclusively to online recruitment to find 135 staff for its new store in the centre of Scunthorpe.
The high street store is expecting a stampede of prospective staff to apply for the full-time and part-time positions. The company has said that asking everyone to apply online will make sure they all have at least a basic element of IT knowledge.
The 135 jobs being created by the store are more than double the number that was originally proposed by the budget clothing chain. The increase in jobs is coming at an ideal time for the North Lincolnshire town, after figures published last month showed unemployment in the region to be at a six-month high.
Online recruitment expert, Geoff Newman from Recruitment Genius, believes “Not only will Primark ensure they receive applications from IT literate candidates, they will also save fortune with a quicker and standardised recruitment process. We recently helped one company recruit over 2,000 staff for a new retail store entirely using online recruitment methods and the savings we staggering.”
The number of registered unemployed people in the North Lincolnshire local authority rose to 4,376 in December - 242 more than in the previous month.
The store will take the space formerly occupied by the town's Bhs store, on the corner of Wells Street and High Street. It is scheduled to open in April, and will provided more than 27,000 square feet of prime retail space.
The deadline for the submission of online applications is 9 February and candidates who have made the shortlist will be picked out of the online realm for face-to-face interviews on 11-12 February.
