National Express And Jobcentre Plus Working Together On Recruitment

National Express, the nationwide transport company, has entered into an employment agreement with Jobcentre Plus to create a holistic recruitment process for finding 1,700 recruits over the next three years.

Around125 of the jobs will be new roles, with the transportation company creating additional route managers for its expanding national coverage, which currently sees its buses as a familiar site on the nation’s motorways.

The rest of the new recruits will be made to fill roles made vacant through attrition and retirement of existing staff.

A spokesman for National Express said that the partnership with Jobcentre Plus was aimed at making sure every recruitment is explored and the very best staff are taken on for the jobs. The spokesman said they want to “make sure we are as engaged with people from the point of [their] interest” in the job and develop a “more open recruitment process”.

The process will see the companies go into colleges and discuss details of the recruitment process and what candidates can expect from it. The intention is to make sure that candidates have had contact with the company prior to the interview stage. The company is hoping in particular to appeal to female prospective employees.
