The index that measured the use of online recruitment in Europe showed a 10 per cent year-on-year increase in February.
The European Monster Employment Index rose to 138 in February, which was also a significant monthly increase from the 127 reading that was measured in January.
A number of key European companies showed particularly strong use of and demand for online recruitment processes, including Germany, where the number of placements being made climbed by 28 per cent within the last year. Italy and the UK both experienced growth, but at a relatively low rate, while online recruitment in the Netherlands, Sweden, Belgium and France continued to decline during February.
Monster Europe’s Alan Townsend said that Germany’s continued growth was particularly impressive, especially in light of the continuing macro-economic uncertainty across the European economy.
He explained, “The sequential increase in the February Index is commensurate with the prior year and reflective of employers looking at their hiring plans after a month of assessing the 2012 outlook.”
When broken down by sector, the index showed that online recruitment in environment, architecture and urbanism had particularly strong annual growth, with 19 per cent, with engineering and the telecommunications sectors following close behind with 18 per cent.
