The recruitment process for the 1,000 new Jaguar Land Rover jobs at the Halewood plant in Merseyside has attracted more than 35,000 applicants.
The company was inundated with applications for the new jobs for engineers and manufacturing personnel to work on the construction of the new Range Rover Evoque cars. The online recruitment portal received more that 6,000 applications within the first 24 hours of its launch in March.
The head of HR at Jaguar Land Rover, Des Thurlby, said that they were delighted that so many people want to work for the company during a key period of growth.
“We are very pleased with the quality of candidates applying for these new roles and more than 100 applicants have already started with us,” he said. “The scale of the response to our recruitment campaign reflects JLR’s growing reputation as an employer of choice in the north west.”
The application process for the jobs has now closed and the company is currently in the process of whittling down the candidates and arranging interviews. The required staff include production operators, supervisors and engineers and all new employees joining the production line will receive training towards an Intermediate (Level 2) Apprenticeship.
